Hello again...And thanks for all you guys input on choosing a first time medal detector.I ended up with a White IDX PRO and like it vary much.I chose the White because there is a dealer only 25 miles from me, and they are out MDing all the time and seem to know a lot about this hobby.Got to try out a few and liked the IDX . My vary first fine in my yard was A dime and then melted alum pieces...Went to our local fair grounds and found clad and you know the other stuff that we all find..Also went to a closed flemarket and that was a learning experiences with all the alum grommets and bottle caps and tabs also more clad $3.29 not bad for a newbie. Got all the metal out of my test garden, will set that up this weekend. You guys have bin great with the info you have given me,a big thanks to all. Anyone with this machine your input would be a big help to this newbie if you have the time ..Scotty.. yes we are about the same age and probably do have the same aches and pains.. the first day my arm mussels were so sore that I could not pick up a cup of coffee without spilling it. A question for you all,how is the best way to search with the IDX around real old foundations? Locals say they are late 1700 and the cems are 1834 last buried there and he was 75. No wood around them just giant trees in and around them.Again thanks to all Paul

Congrats on your purchase of a Whites IDX Paul, I am sure you will take off and be a good "Treasure Hunter". The aches and pains come with the age I guess, don't seem to be any exercise that will help other than just doing something other than sitting around. It really gets bad if ya just set around. Good luck on searching the site you mentioned, no specific advice on how to hunt them, other than just go slow and thoroughly, you might expect some pieces of tin and roof nails. but the nails should be rejected by the IDX, but the tin will cause problems, butr may be a jar lid on a jar with coins inside, so always dig a few bad signals now and then, just might get lucky. HH Scotty

Thanks Scotty for your reply...Yes its a lot better then sitting around doing nothing. I took my grandson with me today, he has a b-hunter and is 11 years old. Wants to know if we can go ever day this summer so I guess he is hooked.Going to wait on the old foundations till I get to learn this hobby a little better. We did find some wheaties at a old blacksmith site and many square nails..iron..tin but had a great time.Thank for your advise on the White and hope you have a great summer. PAUL
