newbie in wilmington with UMAX

I think most users of other detectors underrate Tesero's.
They may not have allot of bells and whistles but they find me goodies and that is all I care about.

yes i agree the tereso is a great machine
and if u are not lazy and dig all u dont need the bells and whistles
thanks tersoro
plus cant beat the warranty

I have a Silver Umax I won at a hunt. It is my backup machine and I use it a lot when my back is acting up because it is so light. I think a lot of people are just now realizing Tesoro is a machine to recon with. I know I was impressed. I attended a planted club hunt yesterday and saw many more Tesoro machines than usual. One of their top end machines may be my next detector. Monty

went to beach today and the silver umax found a penny at about 7 -8 inches not bad for this machine

Hey Mongo

I picked up a Silver recently to add to the stable. I bought it for two reasons: I really wanted to try a Tesoro after reading the knowledge shared by Monte, Michigan Badger and Tabdog.......and..........I sniped it at a great price on E-bay.

My primary machine is a White's DFX and I know I have not come close to mastering all this machine can do, but I still wanted to see if I could live with a "beep and dig" detector. I have logged about 10 or 12 hours with the Silver and I gotta tell you I have been impressed with it's performance at a couple locations. I'm not sure I'm sold on the lack of information and even more I'm not sold on the single tone thing, yet, I'm looking forward to continue using it. I can tell you that I have been very happy with it's ability to pick up tiny things at really good depth.

I have the good fortune to hunt with Jeff of PA on a fairly regular basis and he is the master of making me feel "lazy".........that man is on his knees more than his feet anytime he's huntin'........LOL!! Maybe one day I'll learn to dig more "iffy" signals and match Jeff's finds but right now I'm happy trusting the information the DFX gives me. I am convinced that if I want to really "clean" an area I will probably run the Silver on low discrim and see what comes out.

Good luck with the Silver and watch for posts from the three guys I mentioned above, they will teach you well.

I bought a Tejon at the beginning of this year and since got a Vaquero and a silver is on order. The DFX is being sold. It is a great machine, but I do not like playing with its computer and really like the Tesoro simplicity. Glad you are having success with your Silver. :occasion14:
