newbie question for az local prospectors

Hi names justin.. I'm very new to prospecting period so any advice or help or criticism I'm open to.. my question can any of az guys give me and advice for area to just try out near phoenix or near by.. I have 2 girls love to get outside go wonder around.. I'm not asking for anybody hiding spot or hunny hole just public land I can go try out .. my wife and I want to get into dry washing but want to make sure we actual enjoy the hobby.. thanks
