My dad used to take me fishing. He would buy a 10 yards of a black fishing string not like todays. It cost 25 cents and came on a piece of card board that you put it back on when done fishing. You put it on a 4-5 foot green switch heavy enough to pull out a wopping 2 pounder. Add a hook and bobber with fresh dug red worms and you were set for a day of fishing.
Yea, as long as your hunting use 2 sticks if you have to Just make sure your detector is working right and do a Test Garden with coins and relics. Don't do what I did and hunt for a year with a detector that is not working right.
I would also look at the ace 250. A ton of bang for the buck!! You can get one new for around 212.00 new. That little fisher is a good unit also. Good luck and welcome.
Welcome as long as you don't give up. You will find something good. I still find a lot of nails etc. But today I pulled out a 1907 Indian head Penny and that makes It all work it. Good luck.
I'm sure the fisher would be fine, but i have three Buddy's here using the ace 250's and they seem to do excellent. the only minus is no ground balance.
Hey, gonatry, welcome to the forum. The Ace 250 seems to be the hot detector in the $250 price range. Many people on Tnet own them.
Like RC Kid said....be prepared to dig alot of garbage, too. When we post our finds, usually it's a pick of our best finds for the day. Not a realistic picture of all the junk we really dig. It takes plenty of patience, but it's worth it.
Welcome to the forum and just go out and have fun! Thats what this hobby is all about. I love to find a ring or an old coin too, but mostly i just have fun.
