Hello there,

This is my first new post on the board (I've responded to few posts before this), so I thought I'd share a recent find from South America. The point on the right is a lightly shouldered, heavily ground, fluted fish tail point. These are found from Mexico down to Chile (and I think into Texas and Florida, but people there like to call them Clovis and Bull tongue simpsons.)

The red jasper one is a find from a couple of years ago, missing the ear flares at the base. The first one is a biface preform, all from the site.

Great stuff, sounds like you have quite an extended search area. It is interesting to see the variety.

Really nice. What area of S.America ? I have seen some fantastic worked pieces come from south of the border. Its loaded. I am surprised we do not see more of it. Thanks for sharing your finds.

The red one looks like it's right bevelled (?)

If so, is that a characteristic that dates it ? Era ?

Nice exotic materials and types, your fine fluted point looks similar to a Simpson point from Fla.

Thanks for the replies.

The piece isn't beveled, but it does have a rather steep resharpening from both faces. These pieces have been dated to the clovis period at sites in Peru and Ecuador.

The red one would have been a dandy, it is missing the ears that this piece has.

Here are a couple more.
