Hunting here in Va Beach has been slim pickings for most of us, especially in the gold area! Lots of sinkers and coins lately in some places but not much color coming out of the sand. It's been since sept. since my last gold ring, but I'm happy to say that the spell is over! Went to one spot, tons of sand, few rocks and even fewer targets. Moved on to another location and met up with a couple of the other local pirates Guru, Bobby, Big Scoop and Denny who were coming from the other direction. I found one area up high that had some packed sand and gravel that was like concrete, had to chip away at one area to get down 8" to pull out the 25mm brass shell. Guru came up and showed me a nice little silver ring with a clear triangular stone. Hope it was something good for him and not glass, it looked pretty cool though! I moved about 20ft from the brass shell hole and got a nice 12.08 on the CTX. Of course I just sorta sighed and said ok, here comes another "beaver tail" off of a pull tab....imagine my surprise when a nice 2 piece wedding band was there in my new Stealth Scoop! (and a special shout out to Chuck and his crew at Sunspot Tooling Systems for sending a nice hybrid scoop with 1/4" re-enforcing bars on it! It works GREAT and the sharp point did real good chipping into the hard pack area I came into. Thanks Chuck!)
Both rings are a set but they look like from different makers. The solitaire is marked "Zp 14K" and "0.45. The other band is marked "14K" and "NDI C". If any one knows Zp and NDI C makers marks are give me a shout...still looking online for them.
Only other good find was a 1953D wheatie that was pretty crapped up but not much else but hey....couldn't really ask for a better day ya know? I think a couple other silver and junk rings were found and some silver coins (Denny got a NICE 1916 Barber dime that was in great shape...musta been in the dry sand longer than the water!). Storm is on the way this weekend so hopefully we'll see some overall "improvement" of the beaches and more gold will show up for everyone else too! Hope all are doing well where they are and score some holiday gold! (sorry "far north" lake and park hunters......I know some of ya have had to hang up the coils for the season) Good luck out there....
Here are the picts, thanks for looking!
