I went out today with Dr. Ace and we hit an old abandoned school building. We found a few wheats and a couple old Jefferson nickels. All dating in the early 40's. We hunted till about two in the afternoon when I said we need to go get some lunch. We stopped at a quick stop gas to get a sandwich and while driving back we drove by this little park. Did not look old and was very Small, just a gazebo in the middle and nothing else. We joked about hunting it as we drove by. As we circled back to head back to the school, Bruce ( Dr. Ace) said lets hit this spot, should only take a few minutes to clean up the clad if there is any. So I agreed and we stopped.
Within minutes we were both on the ground digging Wheaties. Then I found the first 1945 Merc. a few wheaties later I pulled the second 1943 merc out of the ground. Right before we were going to leave I get a weak signal. So I dig and pulled the 1912D V nickel out of the hole from under a clay brick.
Along with the other stuff all in all it was a great day to be out in the 66 degree sunny day. I also found three keys today, and a tootsie toy dragster die cast. I also dug the pair of pulltabs on steroids.
The E-trac comes through again. I got my 8th and 9th silver for the month of April. The total absence of clad at this little park make me believe that this park has been hit recently by other detectors.
I pasted the back of the V Nickel into the picture. I only found the one 1912D V nickel. Wheats are 1936,1938,1941,1941D,1942D,1944D,1944D,1947D
Thanks for looking,
Hope everyone else is enjoying a little sunshine and fresh air,
HH,
Dave
