several, mostly Garrett
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Took a friend out detecting today at a local beach that has been a swimming spot for years, thinking we'd have to find something right? Wrong. 3 hours on the beach and nothing but a dog tag and a zinc penny.....(and several bottle caps pull tabs and pop tops) I know that someone has to have dropped something out there, maybe I was just in the wrong area. But all that aside, it was nice just being out and hunting, and the sunset over the lake was a bonus.

A bad day metal detecting is still 1000 times better than a good day at work!

Can you show the dog tag, please?

Its not a total bust, you now know the spots where the treasures aren't buried...add in the fresh air and sunshine...OH YEAH!! :icon_sunny:

Amen to that!

I can't post a pic of the tag right now, my camera's decided it's a good time to not work.

Ya know what's better than a bad day at work and detecting when you can? Being retired and detecting when ever you damn well please. Ofcourse, the down side, you have to get old to do it.

not there yet, just under-employed right now, but fixing up my house eats up a lot of otherwise great detector time. I promised myself I'd get out more this year though.

Was that Pontchatrain Beach?

yeah, right at the end of Elysian Fields. We only hunted the eastern end of the beach, I think maybe the middle area might be better, so next time I'll try that.

Maybe the beach has already been hit by other detectorists? :icon_scratch:

Could be, I'm leaning toward erosion as the culprit right now, been looking at old photos and comparing the shoreline.....seems a lot has changed recently the area where I was gets more wave action than the other side I think, so off to the other end of the beach.
