Picked up this matted and framed piece at Goodwill tonight. Looks to be painted on silk or a similar fabric with watery paint that was purposely allowed to bleed a little in order to spread out in clouds on the fabric. I don't know if it is considered cubist or modernist, or something else entirely. It is signed in the lower right 'Miriam', or at least that's what I see. The other possibility is that the work depicts Miriam, Moses' sister in the Bible, in which case 'Miriam' as signed in the lower right is the title and not the artist's signature. Any ideas on artist or technique or movement? Thanks in advance, and happy hunting!

Abstract modernism would be the category I would put it in. It reminds me of the style used by Chagall. Its a nice piece but does not have the refinement (composition) of his work.

Just FYI, I use sites like this to look up artists signatures when I spot a signed piece of artwork.

Nice piece. I kind of would've preferred it without the face
