Hello Fellow Seekers. I found these items at a c.1880's house site still in use. The coolest item is the luggage tag...never found one of these before so I am stoked about it.

I was having some difficulty figuring out what RR the tag was from so I showed it to a RR buff where I work. He identified part of it right away (the J. and StA. part anyway) from there I looked it up as belonging to:

"The Jacksonville St Augustine and Indian River Railway".

Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Halifax River Railway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The RR was only in existence from 10/31/1892 till 09/13/1895 so these are probably kinda rare...did I say that I am stoked?? I wonder if it worth anything??

Thanks for tuning in HH and may the finds be with you.

C9

Hard to say what the value of such an item would be as far as monetary value. I am sure there is a market for such things. I would say as far as the "Way Cool", uniqueness factor, it is worth a fortune. That is hard core history my friend. Simply put, you may dig a merc, an indian, a three ringer, a buckle, or even gold but very few of us will ever pull one of those out. Or at least that is how my simple mind views such finds. Congrats.:icon_thumleft:

Hello TNGUNS. Thanks very much for the kind reply...I think that simple minds think alike...I have found many mercs, indians, buckles, and a few gold rings but I know that I will never find another one of these. Good luck and HH. C9

Like it , more relics & Welcome November , ya got here just in time for relic season .........

I found one also, I could not believe what the guy from this site told me it was worth(I probably should of sent him better pix after it was clean up better)
Here is link to site and I could put a pic of the one I found if you like, just don't want to hijack your thread.

I agree with you guys to me this is a much rarer find, I mean how many of these could have been made? There were thousands upon thousands of old coins made.
If you look closely above the hole there is probably a manufacturer name. That was where someone on the site that had also found some of these baggage check told me to look

Hello treblehunter. No worries re hijacking my post, I would love to see your find. Did you find the same "J. StA and I.R. Ry" tag? Thanks for the reply and HH. C9

Awesome finds! Congrats!

Hello treblehunter. Thanks for the image of your find, it looks in great shape, those are some historic places engraved on it and it may outstrip mine in the "cool-rating"...but not to me...I think you will agree that "coolness" is always enhanced when you personally dig it. HH C9

The guy told me it was worth 5 to 10 dollars. Can you believe that?
Coolness is in the eye of the beholder. Both finds are very cool and very rare. I like it and that is all that matters.

Hello treblehunter. I agree and meant no disrespect in my previous post, both finds are outstanding. BTW I am a "coin licker" too. Good luck and HH. C9
