Nice Minnie & old nick today and Old hotel key tags from awhile ago

Went to the town square today for about a hour, its been awhile because of all the trash and pull tabs. I put the dfx in relic mode and found that thats the way to go there, this place has been worked over and over and the first dig was this minnieball, then two digs later a dime then a 1939 nickle which I tried every way to look at it, squint, crosseyed, oneeyed, it didn't matter I still couldn't make it a double strike. Oh well. Then a little more clad, not to bad for a quickie. A few months ago I was in a small town called Clarksburg, about 10 minutes down the road, there is a school there that back in the late 1800's was a college, anyway I found six of these brass hotel key chain tags, with room numbers on them. They were all stuck together when I found them, all I did was pull them apart and cleaned them with soap and water and put them in a baggie. Well they look worse now then they did before, how can I clean them and stop them from coroding further?? (cant spell). They are marked Hotel Lander, which was a big name around here back in the mid 1800's, there was another hotel here in Tipton he built plus other deals he was into. Cool history.
Went to the local watering hole tonight with the you know who, My Love. She bartends there on friday and sat, anyway met up with a friend who I find out owns a whole block next to and north of the town square where all the CW activity was back in the day, well after talking awhile the subject of detecting comes up, he tells me what he owns and tells me about hearing that there is suposed to be a bunch of cannonballs burried on this ground and tells me that I have it all to myself to detect. WOOO. There is nothing but a couple of old trailor houses a old shed and corral, the rest is fenced, its in the middle of town next to the tracks across from the old depot, what more could a guy ask for. Ill take pictures of the place and hopefuly a bunch of great digs.... I am going to work this place over, it looks prime. I just hope the weather hold out for a day or so so I can get a taste of the place. Well I am done ramblin on, good luck to you all and HH. JYD

Aren't bars great for getting info on detecting sites?! I've bartended for over 20 years, and have gotten permission/bribed with booze, many people throughout the years. One club I worked at in Denver was located in an older part of town, so whenever I knocked at a door and a 20-30 year old answered, I would always mention where I worked. If they said that they have heard of that club, I'd tell them to come on down, and I'd buy them a drink. Or two. Or however many it would take to be able to drink. Good stuff ya dug.

JYD, Great finds!! I also love the tags, the whatsits and things I really love to find. Hope you have great luck on the new site you spoke of! I'd say you've done some reading on The War, and those soldiers really guarded the old railways and depots! Great hunting and good luck!! Regards, Richard. P.S. Let us know how it goes!!
