My local GWs are starting to end the jewelry jar thing or at least sending the good stuff to auction online. I stopped by one during lunch and spent $32 on a couple that will return maybe $25 in profit (low grade watches and stingray leather ladies bracelets).
On my way back to work, at the last minute I decided to stop by a GW that rarely ever has jewelry jars. Walked in and there was a huge one for $100. I asked how long had been there and the manager said she had just put it out. Examined it over and over again and only saw a few pieces of silver and then a 14k Peter Brams opal earring and another 14k earring. Took the gamble. It paid off! Not only were the matches to the earrings in the jar, but buried among the stuff was this beautiful 14k necklace! I’m putting it on the ‘bay for maybe $1500 or so.
