I went back to the yard sale where I got those lures yesterday morn , they were just pulling the tarp covers of the tables . He went into the shed and brought out this tackle box to show me . I offered him $30.00 - Sold !

I haven't had a chance to search through it much - 2 graduations this weekend and a birth party tonight !
But i really like the box , especially the clasp thingy on the front . gotta go , people are hollering for me .

Looks like some really collectible lures in that top drawer and the box is wonderful. Congratulations...

Yup I agree on that clasp, and nice score on the box..

Those old tackle boxes can fetch decent money. I pick them up any time I come across them.

Nice find mojjax.

Love the old fishing stuff. Good find! You know there is a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot....

That's like a treasure chest to a certain type of collector. In my opinion, in this situation the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The collector looking for a Jitterbug or a Hula Popper wants an example in as close to new as can be found. Any one lure in this box may be only an average (low value) specimen. Another collector would love to open this box and peer into another time and into the unique personality of the fisherman who assembled it. Did he fish ponds and lakes? Streams and rivers? Did he fish in saltwater or only freshwater? I'm not asking you to answer these questions, just saying sometimes things are better left intact and advertised as being in unmolested "as found" condition.

Wow, that's a totally awesome find for you!

That box appears to be an old hand built tool box that someone converted into a tackle box.

I've owned several boxes of similar construction over the years. The top tray would have held nails, and the bottom of the box would have held hammers, planes, and the like.

The lock mechanism is a vintage sash lock from a window.

I am going to guess that the box was built post 1930.

Oh, and the carrying handle on the top appears that it could have been taken off of an old concrete finishing tool.

:BangHead:Whenever I ask if they have any old fishing stuff they pull out a rusted box of rotting plastic worms.
That's beautiful stuff! Congrats!

sweet find --might have some old high value lures in it.
