I went out to the "ghost town". Started out where the livery stable once stood. First nine holes I pulled out nine square nails. Then I turned around and looked at my tool box that I was using to keep track of the row I started in...and wow, but all those holes lined up perfectly. How, in a farm field that has been plowed year after year, could all those nails have ended up in such a straight line? Then I looked at the next row and noticed all the bricks lining up on the surface, just perfect! Hmmm, is the town trying to put itself back together?
Anyway, I ended up with about 15 square nails, a handmade hinge like off a barn door...really neat smithing piece. Found a horseshoe I gave to the owner of the land. A couple odd pieces of iron and a shiny "button" looking thingy I might put up in "What is it". It is the size of a dime, and I thought I'd finally found some silver for a second. But, the back has a clip on it...guess we'll find out. Going back out tomorrow to try where two or three homes were.
