I'm going through nickel boxes, besides war nicks and buffalo's, anything else worth saving? The guide said pre 56, but i can't find anything on why. Also finding a lot of 1970-s.
I have the dealers blue book (dealer gave it to me for free) and it's not too informative besides the few error coins.

Ty. I'll type out a tally after i get home from work, but out of 2 boxes i did get a 38, 39, 42 non, a 50(no d), a 42 war, 3 or 4 43s, and a 44. Also have 5 55s but haven't did a close look for d over s yet

I'm probably doing Nickels wrong but I keep everything 1938 thru 1961 currently filling 2 whitman folders. My next Nickels goal is filling rolls from each year 1938 thru 1961. I have solid rolls of '40, '41, '54, '56', '57, '58, '59, '60, and '61. Toughest to find 38 D,S, 39 D,S, 50 D, and P,55 P, have plenty of 55 D. This is just from 1 month of searching. I also grab any Mirror finished S varieties. Don't know if that would work for you, but I like it.

check ALL 83-P for CUDS, FULL STEPS, GREASERS with filled or missing details, and DIE CLASH error. recently found an 88-P with strong die clash. box #324 this week results: 3 P war nics, '34 Buff in ef-au, '92-P in ms, '49-S in au, plus a '38-S in fine to vf. all will get a new home in an amateur collection through ebay.
