This is my first hunt in over two months, and with the mid day heat unbearable down here in south Louisiana (mid 90's), Keith, R.J., Sal and myself decided to make a late evening into the night relic hunt back at Keith's Cav. camp. It didn't disappoint, either. Here's my take for the hunt.
Finds include: 2- patriotic tokens, .58 cal. 3-Ringers, .54 cal. Burnsides, .44 Colts, a .36 cal Hayes, .32 cal. S&W, cut and carved bullets, bale seal with red paint, brass furniture pull, brass rivet, bar lead, camp lead, bucky balls, and a silver plated star rosette.
2 Patriotic Tokens
"UNION FOR EVER" 1861 w/ Shield

This is what I believe to be a rosette, and possibly attributed to Texas troops. It measures 22.7 mm, is silver plated over lead/pewter, and has an iron shaft that looks to may have had some threading (not sure, though). This find really had me going when I unearthed it at about 1100PM. when that star came to light and the size being of a button.... Well you can just imagine what came to mind... I'm hoping this is a CS piece.. Please give me y'alls feedback on this rosette.. Thanks!
Here's the reverse showing the iron shaft.
BTW, Texas troops were fighting in the immediate area of the find, but no Ms. troops were here, as far as I know..
