No.1 Field - Day 12 & its neighbour...

The No.1 field had only been partly ploughed & it was the less productive area, but it seemed the best option & we (Shaun7 & I) did the area with pretty good results. We then moved next door to the field Shaun7 had his Celtic Gold last year, & the finds were more forthcoming. Dad was trying a Roman Site with Land-Mag & had 2 Roman scrappies before he joined us & got a nice hammered straight away (Charles I Halfgroat 1628-29) :tongue3: Leaving me as the only hammeredless musketeer :laughing9:
I did get;
16 Roman Bronze Coins
1 17th C Halfpenny Token & 1 Farthing type
A new type of Jetton - ABC etc..
6 Lead Tokens
1819 & 1919 sixpence :)
Coin/Bullion weight
Nice 17th C button with a shield - the best example of this type :)

I think we all had a fun day :headbang:

That alphabet coin seems unique. Do you have a flip side pic of it?

Once again, the pouch was filled with some nice finds. :thumbsup:

Its a counting token or Jetton, the other side is shot. But it used to have a man seated moving Jettons on an exchequers board. I've seen & once owned a nice one, as its the only Jetton I know that has someone in period clothes using them.

Found this photo in my archive, it shows a clear example of the Jetton I found. Its a type I like as it shows a Man using the Jettons :thumbsup:
