No jewelry but at least I got this!

Stopped in my Best producing GW and a worker was grabbing jars off the shelf and told me they were putting jars together to fill with real jewelry. I was shocked and happy and said I would happily wait to see what they bring out. After a long wait, the manager sees me and we start talking. I asked whether they were bringing out jars today. She proceeds to tell me that the new folks didn’t understand that the real jewelry no longer goes in jars, but is separated as sent to corporate. She said she had just happened to catch them as they were putting it all in a jar and pricing it for $30!! Needless to say, I was crushed. They didn’t even bring out regular jars where I could hope to catch something good they missed! I was about to leave and a cart of stuff was wheeled out. I saw this statue and checked it out expecting it to be one of those plastic figurines sprayed to look metal. Turned it around and saw the worn or scratched up “925”! Brumal Sterling Silver for 99 cents! With base, it weighs over 400g!

Interesting discovery that compensated you handsomely for the time you spent waiting. Always good to get to know the mangers of these places. What I love about thrift stores is that you never know what you may find.

Upon further research...the “R” in a square on Italian pieces means “filled” or “weighted” to us Westerners. And the percentage below indicates how much silver was used. This has a mark of “10-13”, which means 10-13 grams. So it is worth more than the 99 cents I paid, but not the 300 I was hoping for!

I know a lady who picked up a horse sculpture at the TS made the same way with ultra thin silver over a polymer cast and I think it was made in Italy... She sold it for a pretty good profit
