No magnetic metal stone

I found this at the beach by metal detector. Doesn't seem to be magnetic. Could anyone identify what it could be?

Thanks for your answer! I'm just thinking, would tarball not be quite soft? This one is pretty solid like a stone or piece of metal. I was also thinking it could be something of submarine welding.

Could be a piece of asphalt,like from a parking lot.Put it in a container of mineral spirits,also known as paint thinner.if it dissolves or the thinner turns black it,s probably asphalt.Doesn,t have to be a large container,just a little more than enough to cover the piece.Hope this helps.
