The cylinder thing actually has a date on it. July 13 1915 (I wonder why?). The button has an intertwined WG and 1812. It's a pretty button, but I think it may be modern.

Oh yeah there seems to be no shortage of those BALL canning lids either. ;)

I wonder if it were a pendulum (not sure if spelt right - swinger thing) to a large clock. The date being when the watch maker checked it/serviced it??
