It was really neat to go and see a part of the county I haven`t been too yet, it would have been even neater to find some really old stuff, guess that will have to
wait for the next time.
The town we visited was established in 1777, so I was hoping for at least a large cent, but it was not to be. Starting on Monday all I found of interest was a 1934
Buffalo, my second one ever, so that was cool. Also a 73 Hong Kong ten cent piece.
Tuesday I got my first silver of the trip, a nice 45 Merc, I wasn`t familiar with the town yet so I just walked sidewalk strips and it paid off.
Wednesday got better as I kept doing sidewalks and found a 42 Merc, later in the day I was going by an older looking house and was lucky to get permission to
detect it and found my oldest Merc yet, 1918!
Thursday I hit some sidewalks on the other side of town and got another Merc, 1938 this time and about an hour later got a really loud signal, it turned out to be
a 1944 Washington!
Friday was slow, but I did manage another permission and found a 43 war nickel, and 4 bullets and a really cool button.
Saturday was the best, drove three hours down to South Carolina for the seeded hunt put on by the Sandhill Metal Detecting and Relic Club.
There were three separate hunts and I found 13 Rosies,4 Mercs, 2 Washingtons, a SLQ, a 64 Kennedy and last coin of the hunt was a no date Buffalo, also won a nice set of ear phones, hat and XP Deus shirt.
It would have been a lot more fun, but it was about 95 degrees out, and this yankee was dying out there!!!
Now the big question, do you guys count coins found in a hunt in your yearly totals?!?!
