I’ve never detected over there but I went to school in N. Italy in 84-85. There were dozens of places that looked like they had potential. There was one abandoned house in the mtns that looked particularly good. Dripping with history. I never saw anyone detecting there and don’t know what the laws are. Good luck to you!

Yes, check the laws wherever you go. Antiquity law violations can be major offenses with major penalties.
