I went out about 12:30am last night. What I saw was a general glow in the sky hardly distinguishable from the glow of town lights to my north. You got some great shots OV!
 
Is that photo color enhanced or taken with a filter? I’ve always wondered this with all night time “northern lights” pictures.

I have never seen it with my own eyes and am curious what it really looks like vs the long exposure photos look like.

I just set the camera to "auto" setting. It does better then any manual settings I can do. It pretty much looks like that, no city lights to interfere.

My daughter ran up to Wyoming last night north of Cheyenne to get a good look at it. Very little light pollution up that way. Her pictures weren't near as good as yours.

I took a look last night and could see it, but it was not spectacular. Trying again this evening.
