I went to a park I and many others have hunted to death. A place where I have used all my previous detectors. I went by where the picnic area is. I started to get a deep jumpy signal that hit mostly in the low 40's. The etrac said it was 6-8 inches. I said what the heck, I had only found a copper ring and a brass owl charm so far with my clad. I dug down and up comes a wheatie 1917. I thought this park was newer and had not found any coins older than the 60's before. I asked myself what is the chance, and started to swing and listen for that signal again. And there it was a couple of feet away, same depth same type of signal. I dig and I find another deep wheatie 1953. I would find 2 more. A 1924 and a 1939. This was the biggest wheatie day I have ever had. Now I am thinking if there are deep wheats then there must be deep silver. I will be going back if we don't get snow tomorrow and try to find some.

Also should I try my stock coil using ttf or my sunray X5 sniper? It is a little trashy in this park but not sure if I would loose too much depth with the sniper. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for looking!

Mike,

Go back and grid off the area....go slow and do overlaps there should be some silver waiting for the coil.

Congrats. You will find silver there.

Hello Mike,

The Sunray 5" coil will work wonders for you in trashy areas. I also have the 8" Sunray, very nice coil in trashy areas. IMHO, the key in these areas is not depth, but target separation. You will find many very nice keepers in the 3 - 7 inch level, just have to isolate them from the junk. Also, you must slow down to almost a crawl in some areas and let the machine have time to "think". Lastly, hit the trashy area from multiple angles (North/South, East/West and 45 Degrees) and sensitivity settings. You may have to detect the area using the layering technique. GL & HH

Good luck, I agree, get back there and go super slow and grid it! You deserve a silver for that!

Almost enough for a loaf of wheat bread. I love finding these. Silver is still there too. Congrats!

I went back today for an hour. Was just too cold and windy. Did manage to find another wheat. A 1944 D. Hopefully the weather is better tomorrow.

Congrats on those 4 wheats Mike. Maybe I need to go back to some pounded areas with the deus, slow down and just dig the deep targets.

It would be a good idea Loco. I am always learning something new. Sounds that made no sense when I got the Etrac, now are starting to.
Congrats on those 4 wheats Mike. Maybe I need to go back to some pounded areas with the deus, slow down and just dig the deep targets.
