exactly how big is the chain are the links as large as a regular chain or much smaller and th pic makes them look large

those two on the bottom? are they worth anything? i found one at an old foundation and thought it was a horse bit. i think i threw it away >:(

i would say your chain is post maybe form a strong box appears something is missing on the end where the us is like something was broken maybe a key???

maybe a ball and chain was on the end lol, i wish , could it be world war 1, you would think its milatary with the us on it, i guess its one of thoes things you will never find out what the hell it is ???

gp, I have a chain exactly like that one. IDENTICAL, with US printed on the same tab. That tab is where a swivel was attatched with a ring on the end, like used with animal driven equipment. Mine still has the swivel. Mine was found at a house that is estimated to be 150 yrs old or more. There was lots of chain, including chains like the ones pictured by AQ. They are blacksmith forged. There were also a lot of mule-riggings and farm related pieces. I don't know if the chain is military or not, but I wouldn't doubt it.
