Interesting find. Doesnt look very old....still dont know what it might be. Found metal detecting.

It has a shank where a chain would have been attached. might be a lid to something. Any ideas?

This is the area I found it it. I am not trying anything fishy. This is just the easiest way to show where I found it and everything else I've found there:

 

Part of an incense holder or potpourri lid.

Could be a pounce pot lid. It looks like it has been in the soil for a while...

Nice video except for all the wind noise. Although the driving part was rather disconcerting to me since you were ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD!!! :tongue3:

Have you dated the Mauser rounds? Late 19th C perhaps?

P.S. I suggest using a bigger shovel and digging deeper plugs. It doesn't matter much when you're digging fired bullets, but someday you will be sad when you dig a nice coin and ding it with your shallow scoops. Trust me, I've been there...
