I finally finished my gramma's yard where I was hitting sections at a time due to the huge amount of cans and garbage buried in the yard.
I soon realized that at one time there was some sort of tin fencing around a huge area of the backyard to protect the garden but after 50+ years of being in the ground this was making my detector go nuts. There were pieces about the size of a quarter everywhere! Attached is a picture of my last finds today which brought me to around $3.00 in clad, my first Wheatie, my first Merc, 2 religious pendants, A silver spoon, bottle-caps galore, and a ton of experience. I am so bummed that the white stuff is suppose to fall here in Minnesota in the next couple days which will put my detecting on hold for months and force me to salivate at everyone else's finds on this site.

Cool jet plane! Toys rock. I had the same issue with rose bush tags in my yard. I know right were there used to be a lot of roses. While digging one of those tags I popped out an arrowhead so it was worth it.

I like the airplane. Congratulations. Ossi

That ton of experience is worth a fortune in itself. I'm glad I don't have to worry about snow here, we're finally getting some rain and detector season is about to start up for me after a hot dry summer.

Out of curiosity how is the detecting down there after Katrina? Are you coming up with more trash or more finds?

It really depends on what part of town you are in, the areas that were flooded the worst are chock full of nails and trash of all sorts. Other areas are cleaner, but there are so many pull tabs and beer caps in the ground here it's really frustrating sometimes. Of course if you live in a town that loves its parties like New Orleans does, and has no law against drinking in public, you have to expect that. I manage to find some good stuff now and then, but I have to dig a lot of trash to clear the way to the finds.

nice plane ....congrats !
