Found a couple cribbing spikes, square head nail, ring, broken up utility knife, car window handle, dresser drawer handle, assorted busted up brackets, a .22 rimfire casing, and a LOT of tin cans.

Not sure if the casing is Winchester.

oh, and a Seagull wing. LOL

Sure looks like a Winchester "W". The finds show that your detector is working and you know how to operate it. More interesting finds will come on other sites, I expect.

Thanks.

At least my daughter and I were good stewards of the environment and hauled a lot of trash out. The window handle cracked me up. It was about 7" in sod.

Neat ring. Are you sure it's silver?

Cool. The color threw me off, but I guess that's just the way it was finished. Neat find.
I thought it was brass at first. Then when I cleaned it up and read the stamps, I was a bit surprised.

Tracked down the car window crank. I was able to locate a part number. It's from a 1968 Ford Grand Torino Cobra.

I assuming the dresser handle is from the same time frame. I wonder if there was a swap meet or flea market in the location eons ago.

After I cleaned out the packed dirt and rust from the handle, I could see numbers and a small Ford logo stamped into it. From there, I searched for the manufacturer part number that it had. The numbers matched this one out on eBay.

The numbers are in the exact same location and a 100% match. I was definately into tracking it down out of curiosity.

Sweet ring. Is that the same Avon that sold door to door? Ding dong, it's the Avon lady. You could smell the powder and perfume a block away.

Thank you for your input. It all helps us id things we find. You did a GREAT JOB :)

This is where I found that window crank handle to the '68 Grand Torino. LOL. Had to be a swap meet site at one point.

The structure behind me in the photo of me in the field is the Augustine Inn. Augustine Beach, where I found some of the items that I posted (ring, door handle, shipwreck pins, etc.), was named after Augustine Herman (c 1621-1686), an explorer and cartographer who mapped the region for Lord Cecil Calvert. Adam Diehl built the brick Augustine Beach Hotel in about 1814. It served the public as part of a resort in the 1800s to early 1900s as a destination for ferry boats. There is a old wharf there I have searched, but I need a better detector to combat the brackish water and there are a lot nails. I would think since it was a ferry point, there would be some coins.

This location once housed a pavilion, dance hall, and a bath house. I can't find any drawings or plot maps to show where these other structures once stood. I believe it to be under the huge parking lot that now exist. I was hoping the field was one of those sites. I do find stuff, but mostly beer cans (Schlitz). I would love to search the ground of the Inn, but it is a fancy restaurant these days with great food. Oh, and it's rumored to be haunted and listed as one of the most haunted locations in Delaware.
