not quite sure what this is...

i found this metal object in south Texas near the border where i have found many projectiles and artifacts, but i am not quite sure what this is. To me it looks like some kind of old artillery projectile...i could be way off. Just curious if anyone has seen this and may know what it is. Thanks.

Kind of resembles a piece from inside an older car door frame that the lock clips onto when the doors shut. ..always odds I'm off though

My guess is car brake master cylinder piston. It would have had 2 rubber cups fit in grooves.
