I found this a couple of weeks ago and after cleaning it up some, I was able to make out a design. I think it may be a cosmetic lid but I could be way off. I believe the metal is copper. I have found a couple of those in old parks here in New York. I agree they are parts of ladies compacts late 1880s - 1910.

Ahhh.... I agree with Loco who agrees with Terry who agrees with jeweleryguy who all are in agreement about agreeing about the agreed upon agreement concerning the aforementioned agreed conclusion.

What's the record for redundant answers? Well, I agree.
But I'll say it looks 1920's-30's to me, due to the deco-ness. It likely was previously silver plated.
