These are yesterdays finds in the bin lid ready to be put away. The most memorable thing about yesterdays hunt was the new level of extreme back pain (a bit worrying to be honest).

At least you got out, I would love to be able to search the areas with the history that you have over there. As far as the back pain goes there are some very easy excercises that you can do to help prevent it. I hurt mine several years ago and had issues for a very long time. I started doing these little streching exercises every morning when I wake up and unless I really over do it I don't have any more pain. Getting old really sucks though, just ask you Dr. next time you go and I am sure he will tell you what you can do for it. Good luck,

Iv'e tried every excercise known to man (and some not) over the years. My back went yesterday whilst i was putting my boots on, I don't mind admitting I actually screamed the pain was so sharp. I could not move for a few mins and it took around 30 mins before I could even think about detecting. I will give detecting a rest now, most of the land is now sowned anyway.

Are your boots worn down at all? Sometimes I find my back starts acting up when I'm wearing boots that I've own quite some time and the edges of the heels start wearing out.

Sorry to hear about the back problems. I only have had a couple of light brushes with back pain, and they were no fun.

I'll second the notion to get new boots/shoes. I was a runner in high school and did some serious damage to my lower back from all of the pounding. Now I can tell when my shoes need replacing. My lower back gets really painful and it can "go out" at a moments notice. Staying in well padded shoes and doing leg and lower back stretches every morning has kept me from injuring it for about 12 months. I used to injure it at least once a month before I was stretching and paying attention to having good foot support. Knock on wood...

Yes, it sucks getting old! At least you can still get out.

Don't think it's the boots. First hurt my back at work in 84, detecting since then as taken it's toll.
