Now thats a 'big knot'
I went for a walk in the woods today, & 'spied' this
very large 'knot' on an Oak tree.
It is called 'burl wood', craftsmen like the irregular swirl of the
grain of the wood, it makes some beautiful bowls.
It is an 'abnormal' growth caused by insects or fungus.
It can be hard to work with, it may crack easily, if cut the wrong
way.
