Damnails and I went back to the Confederate camp were I found the block A button the other week and things were pretty slow. We need rain bad. I didn't find a lot. Notable finds were a Spencer casing and a toasted button. I wasn't sure what it was till I got home. Turns out to be a NY State seal button. Wow, what's that doing in a Confederate camp? Prisoner or loot?? Made my day even though it's in bad shape. I'll take it. Thanks for looking you can see more detail from the inside. Here is example of what it is supposed to look like.

I never thought of that. Half the fun is trying to figure out why. There was no fighting at or close to this site so it's definitely out of place. Thanks

Great find. I have often found yankee buttons in CS camps. In fact here is one of my prized possession.a CS Lt frock coat and all the buttons are yankee staff officers buttons.
