Well.... I wasn't *really* chomping at any bit.
I have been frozen out for almost a solid month, but
I wasn't *really* getting antsy. ;)

After all, it *had* warmed up for 2 whole days! Right!?!
That should be enough of a thaw.....right!? :dontknow:

Still, just in case, I just went pretty much out my front
door. Staying close, so I could just close up shop
and go home.

just in case....ya know? ;)

Anyhoo...I start swinging and get this strange but
consistent hit and I was really just planning on nothing
but "quarter" hits today. To start the year..you know. ;)

I decide to dig this shallow, iffy hit.

First hit, first dig, and...the shovel bounced off! CR@P! :(
I was hoping for a little better. LOL But, since I started
I figured to finish. I finally pounded the shovel in deep
enough to *BREAK* a piece of ground open! And there,
lo and behold! Lay this:

"OH MY GOD!!!"

I *really* need to get some nitro pills! LOLOL

The very first thing I did after getting it out of the
hole was to run it by my magnet............it stuck! :(

After getting my heart rate back down, I moved on. But, I
changed my location. After seeing that the ground was
indeed still frozen. I concentrated on southern facing
hills and some woods. Easier....:)

There he is again. Guess he is still a shiny, shiny, eh? LOL

Neat lil metal pin.

For those who know toys, this is the back of the emergency
vehicle. :dontknow:

In any case, this was a good start to what I'm hoping to
be a fine year of "walks".

Happy New Year folks!
Here we go! :)

Talk about raising the bar. Great finds.

Another excellent hunt, thanks for sharing! :icon_thumleft:

Nice to see Fishy has a new ride! :hello2:

The frozen ground was good to you because Jesus loves you and all of us.Cool Jesus button.

Nice that you got out.
We're pretty much frozen solid in the Pennsylvania Wilds. Nice finds and congratulations.

Nice finds Whadi. Looks like your off to a good start in 2018.

Glad you got out. The object in the bottom of the first and second picture looks like a finger pick. Like the ones used to pick a banjo.41ziIxeBapL._SY355_.webp

That’s a good start

Dang man! That coin looks soooo awesome in the hole.

Congrats on getting out. GL sir!

Thanks folks! That is soooo much better than sitting and looking out my window on a winter wonderland.

Could have been a bit easier on me though, I mean.....FIRST hole!!! LOLOL

In true Blingie style, he's after the shinny shinny!
Fishy is the auto aficionado!
The matchbox truck needed a little rescuing it's self.

I'm liking the wise owl pendant thing.
Jesus must love you if you were able to get all that out of frozen ground! .....with out a backhoe!
I guess He was trying to jump start your detecting season with a little glimps of what can be, glad you didn't face plant when you first saw the coin.

The people that make those fakes have no idea what it does to one of us when we find one....its just not right.

Well done for a frozen tundra walk! I don't think i'm going to try the same thing here yet.

Our foot & a half of frozen snow was washed away (not the piles) by the 3" of wind driven rain, but as you look out over the grassy areas and see lakes of standing water that are not going anywhere anytime soon....its still backhoe season here.
But after tonight you will be able to skate on those large frozen areas of standing water.

Don't need a backhoe. Did you see my equipment list? ;)

The emergency truck didn't have "Hot Wheels" on what I found, thought maybe the numbers would mean something to someone.

Thanks!

That's what I thought too. There is a patent number that's almost worn away. "National Pat. No. ?787136". If that helps.
Non-magnetic too.

Thanks!

I thought it was a matchbox truck because of "MB" 402.

My bad, i will review your equipment list. 😀

Kudos! To Msbeepbeep!!

Attribute to failing eyes. But, on the driver's door, just under the window? It says very plainly, "Matchbox Alarm Unit" !!! LOL
Thanks for the help!

Dang it Whadi, you almost gave me a stroke. Sorry for the heart breaker, but glad to see you continued the hunt in softer ground. It's supposed to get in the high 40's to low 50's this weekend. I think I'll let the snow melt on Saturday and get out to swing the coil on Sunday.

Now don't be using that pick as a booger picker. :tongue3:
