Ocracoke Island and NC coast

Are people allowed to MD on the beaches out in NC particulary AVON, NC and Ocracoke?

As far as I know that is all National Seashore and is off limits...
I could be wrong..... I'm sure someone else will chime in here

there should be no problem with detecting there, the exception might be in the National Park Area. Just check in with the ranger station.

The dividing line is the walkover at the southern end of South Nags Head. North to VA line OK, Everything South is off limits.

Hello!
First post ever! Am anxiously awaiting my detector, which is sitting in the UPS warehouse 20 miles from here, and will be home tomorrow morning. I'm going to be in Duck, NC for a week starting on Sunday, and am VERY glad to hear that it isn't off limits to MDs.
Seeing how my only MD experience was in State College (Penn State), PA in 1995, using a Radio Shack cheapie, I'm looking forward to learning. This forum has been a huge help!
Not knowing anything about the machines, I went with an affordable but not basic one from Kellyco. Viper Trident. Hope It wasn't a waste of money.

Findloot,
I was down there last fall. My understanding is it is okay to detect NORTH of the Oregon Inlet. And I'm afraid Ocracoke is a no-no
