✅ SOLVED Odd rod with an interesting VDI

Found this on the old homestead I’m swinging on today. It rang up in the 40s, was almost 10” deep, and the dirt basically fell right off of it.

A STRONG magnet will not attract, and it air tests at 42.

15cm long (6”)
2cm diameter (.75”)
100g (3.5oz)

I’m almost positive it isn’t a clutch alignment tool, but have no clue what it may be.

May the TN sleuths work their magic!

Out of a possible how many? Some scales are 0 to 99 and others are 0 to 180, etc.

You’re the 2nd to mention that, but wouldn’t the carbon come off easily on the hand?

However, this is interesting since last year I found a zinc “crow foot” that was known to be used in telegraph batteries... Now I’m starting to wonder what all may have been on this place over the years.

Oops! Sorry about that. My Garret AT Max is 0-99. 40-45 in the past has been low end gold or a chain bracelet that was out stretched.

I think it's a carbon rod also. If you think about a pencil the carbon in them is different hardness's so a number2 won't rub off and leave a mark easily on your skin but some with softer leads would rub off easily. Hardest lead in a pencil is #1 softest would be a #9. I would do a test and see what or if it marks like a pencil.

It's a carbon rod. It makes a great item to use with electroysis.
