Went out today with jmginmd today,jimmy5503 was busy at work.Ended up at the place where jmg 's house is being built,used to be an old civil war encampment outside Haper's Ferry.I found this shell casing that I can't figure out.It has no ejector ring at the bottom,smooth all the way down.The bottom read's...F A 4 04,any casing expert's out there.Thank's for lookin' and HH!!

Not to say your wrong jake but I would have to say it is federal arsenal. An I would have to say the 04 stands for 1904 like jake said. maybe that will help you!!! good luck

Its whats left of a 30/40 Krag. This was the standard round for the US after the 45/70 and proir to the 30.06. Is seems to have lost its mouth starting about mid-shoulder. FA is Frankford Arsenal and the date is 1904.

30/40 Krag: base - .545" length from base to shoulder - 1.725" Total length - 2.314"

Yea , I agree with Trk5cap. If it is from a 30-40 Craig it was a long range rifle. My cousin has one and it has quite a lot of range. Tsgman
