I found this outside of an old shed a few weeks ago. I keep thinking I'll figure it out, but the time has come!!! It just aint gonna happen!. I'm thinking SOME kind of a tool. but I just cant pin it down... so I'm turning it over to the pros here at TN!!! HEEEEEELP! The curiosity balloon is about to pop and it always threatens me with a whisper of "Now you're just not a smart as ya think ya are now areya!!!!! I just hope it's not one of those so obvious ones that I really will have to work on some of those brain exercise puzzles! As always thanks again in advance....

Hmmmm.... I think you are probably right, or at least VERY close.... If I could just envision how this one would work. I can only see a compass in my minds eye or the ones you referred me to which I can also understand how a perfect circle could be made. BUUUUT. this thing has 3 sharp points together, and I'm lost to see how or where a circle would be made. Thanks for getting usthis close, I'm sure!!

its an adjustable hole cutter for wood.

it goes in an old hand powered drill (brace / bit).

if you stick a nail in the round bolt heads and turn, it will loosen and you can move the cutting tines

farther apart or closer together depending on what size hole you want to drill.

I agree, it is a circle scribe bit for a brace.

Maybe for cutting or marking thin material, like veneer or leather???????
