Just from my own experience,it has taken me much trial and alot of errror when searching creeks.I have managed to find a few creeks that i can count on finding artifacts in usually everytime out.now with that said creeks are hit or miss and you just never know, but from my experience if you arent finding much material or none, then move on to the next creek or to a different section of that creek, you may not find any headz everytime out but you should be finding material and some brokes if the ancients were there.i would hunt a creek nearest to where you have found artifacts in a field, thats where i would start. As far as the creek near the mound, its kind of funny but i have repeatedly hunted a creek that is within 300 ft of two adena mounds and have never found as much as a scraper or a tip.plenty of material but never any artifacts, and i have spent alot of time in this particular creek.keep trying different spots and you will eventually hit pay dirt.good luck hunting and if you need a creek hunting fix and you are in the columbus area sometime, give me a shout and maybe we can take out the stealth canoe and go rescue us some headz.

Trevmma,

You could not put yourself in better hands than "Mr". Rocks. He will put you on the good stuff! :laughing7:
Don't get overly frustrated. One day, one will be looking up right at you and winking. :laughing7: We will want pics of course. So post that first one.

Much Luck,
BW

U going hunting sunday. i could make it to columbus

Some of my best arrowhead finds were made in my little creek. This is the only creek I have ever had any luck in. The creek I used to hunt is tiny, 10 feet across, and is located in a valley. There is NO limestone planks which I found out through experience is a good thing, only gravel and smaller rocks. It remains a mystery to me why so many arrowheads were found in this particular creek, literally from all ages and cultural affiliations. It got to the point, with some headed advice from an experienced creek hunter, to rake the numerous gravel beds in this creek. I am glad I put forth the effort, I found my only whole dovetail. Creeks in Ohio generally suck from what I understand. People seem to have better luck in Kentucky for whatever reason. Here are few of mine found in a small creek behind my old house.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I had a the tip of the pictured e-notch restored by Gomer. It is the only time I have restored an arrowhead. I just had to do it.
