...I know of a place within a half mile of the Holden Arboretum in Kirtland Ohio where you can recover good glass from.
There is a place you can walk from the road thru the woods (not to far at all) and look down a steep hillside and get glass bottles from. Years ago, I was at the bottom of that steep hill and climbed up it, but right before I got to the top of it, I started seeing bottles of glass everywhere. I thought at the time how odd to find this here, but later realized it must of been a place where people thru their trash over a very long time ago.
I have a bad knee now, but I'd be willing to go there one last time and show someone where it is if they wanted to. I know the last time I was there, that hillside was decorated with glass bottles. Of course they were covered mostly with leaves and small branches, but I'd be willing to bet they are still there.
