The oilseed rape was the first crop to come in before the Barley, this has never happened (in our memory).
Instead of slogging it throw the Barley stubble for 2 days in a row we decided to do the easier option which was this disced up oilseed rape. All the stalks were cut down & turned in, so the soil was pretty flat & easy to dig.
This 200+ acre field has never been a good one on the list but I was hoping for a random hammered which I did get just after the first hour.
Our tactic today was to try & learn more about the whole field, so we did long (3/4 length runs) leaving a 10 run gap between each of us & each run. The idea being if we cut throw a better area we could grid properly.
We never found a good area after 3 hours, so we then spent the last hour on the Barley Stubble & did pretty good. (4 Roman Coins)
3 Roman Bronze Coins & 1 Silver which is bust up
Tudor Buckle
Lots of modern coppers
Bits...
