OKAY, I DUG IT, IT'S OLD AND ORNATE, SO WHAT IS IT?

I found it about seven inches down, the metal appears to be pewter since it is not magnetic and my knife will cut shavings off. Parts of it are really hard to see, at first I thought that it was a round tower or a church. It actually looks like a castle with or some sort of shrubbery or fires below it, the far left is too hard to make out and there is something immediately to the left of the tower itself. the back has a very rusted pin running from top to bottom with a threaded knob, the opposite end one is gone. it is with out the knob about 3 1/4 inches tall and 2 1/2 wide. I wonder if it pivoted with the single pin, no matter what, it looks pretty cool. View attachment 1018878

It is an antique clock's pendulum weight. In the photo below, yours is in the center of the top row.

wow, that was quick.. thank you so much Thecannonballguy. that is it for sure! I never would have thought it was anything like that.

double wow, when i first saw it something told me to say all along the watchtower but never thought about the clock.

I was thinking one these fancy breast plates you see on horses. yup never would of thought that either, perdy cool.

That's a great find. Did you look to see if the rest of the clock was down there somewhere?

CBG... Guy that was a good and quick ID. Let us have some "fun" at least for a minute or two.

yeah, the imagination can really run wild... especially for something that is way before your time. it always amazes me at the quality and workmanship of the past, that is why they were master tradesmen at what they did and with no power tools as we know them now.

very neat find

Congrats on the clockwork relic!

keep checking that area, maybe the key is there as well:thumbsup:
