Old Brick says SANFORD

Found this old brick today while looking over a picked over dump, bottles seemed to be from the early 1900's. Anybody familiar with this brick? I'm hoping to identify and date it. Thanks. Crusty

Probably Sanford North Carolina. Still a major brick supplier for the east coast.

Custom Brick and Supply Co.of Raleigh, NC had a line of brinks named Sanford;perhaps they still do.

Hi Don,
I think you are in the right time frame if that brick is indeed from Custom Brick and Supply Co, as they state in their history that:

Custom Brick Company was founded in 1961 by D.T. Fisher, who at that time had been in the brick business for 12 years already.

That doesn't add up with the age of the glass in the same dump site but maybe the bricks were dumped later in the same spot or
maybe someone was cleaning out their garage or basement, either way it'll be fun to get the history. Thanks, Crusty
