Looks like a late 1800's cast used in metallic cartridge. Any chance you've got or can get to a set of micrometers or calipers to get some dimensions of it? Someone here ought to be able to identify the caliber from that.

Neat find anyway.

No sophisticated tools, or calipers but at least something..

Hard to tell from the pics man, Looks like it's got some age on it. Rather large, maybe .45 caliber or larger, I'm pretty sure it wasn't a pistol round. My first thought is a 45-70 rifle bullet. I'm not an expert, but i'm sure someone here can ID this thing for you. Cool find! Congrats!

Great find Digger! Thanks for sharing...

Judging from the color alone, I would think 1800's for sure. Very nice old lead.

10 mm would make it .40 caliber maybe from a Sharps 40-60, late 1800's. Nice find!

Well I forgot to mention the bullet was found in Puerto Rico. We were governed by the spanish till 1898. Must of been shot by a spanish rifle? US maybe? Here's a link I found on information of the Spanish- American war. It shows what rifles were used during that period by the spanish and the Americans. Nice info but all info is in spanish.
