Old Button "Wallis & Lloyd * PLATFD * (?) Can anyone help ID this?

I found this button today. After cleaning it up a bit, I realized it says something on the back. " Wallis & Lloyd * PLATFD * "

Am I reading it wrong or does it actually say platfd?

It is probably supposed to say plated but
the bottom of the E is missing. Jim

Plated buttons were silver plated. Gilted ones were gold plated. Yours looks 1800-1840. I am not an expert, but just a guess. Nice find!

So... do you actually think it says plated and not platfd? It would certainly make sense... damn I am tired.
