i again have been looking through my old finds. i have two buttons. the first needs some more cleaning the other one is in good shape to look at. i thank any one for any info. the first has a wheel on it.
The button with a wheel in the center seems to be lettered "MOTORMAN" and is a late 19th - early 20th century stock (generic) railroad occupational button. Buttons of the same design were also made with the job titles "ENGINEER," "DRIVER," "CONDUCTOR," "TRAINMAN," "FLAGMAN," "BRAKEMAN," "GRIPMAN," "BAGGAGEMAN," and "BAGGAGEMASTER," and perhaps others as well.
The other button appears to be a 19th century gilt dress button.
