Very nice old dime. If you didn't know that is not .900 coin silver like our coins. It is actually .925 or sterling silver.

Nice Shane nice. I like the skeleton keys in your avatar!

I love those Canadian silver dimes

Yes it is sterling silver. It means that it has more silver in it than our American coins. Coin silver is .900 pure and .100 copper. Sterling silver is .925 silver and .075 copper. Canadian coins minted after 1920 are .800 silver and .200 copper. So it only means if it is a scrap coin it is a tad more valuable as scrap silver.

However coins that old probably are not candidates for the scrap pile. I scrap most my water silver though.

Congrats on digging your oldest. :occasion14: It's always sweet to see a coin from the 1800's in the hole.

Excellent find, Vicky silvers are pretty hard to find.

Congrats on an 1800's coin............and it's in nice shape..........
Is that "old city park" one of your regular haunts?

Congrats on your oldest Canadian dime. They had some great looking silver coins.

I have been there of and on for a few years now.. I found Indian Head pennies there also 1865 few years ago.. Its a huge park that goes back to the late 1880..1865 Indian Penny.webp
