This isn't a candlestick holder, but its the closest thing I could find when trying to figure out what this is.

The glass egg portion is about 6", and there are four cast iron pieces held together on a long thread in the middle.

The bottom shows the flash from the mold around the base of the foot of this object.

The glass may not be original? There is foam padding on the top and bottom where it nests in the iron, and the nut on the thread at the top of the glass is stainless steel. Or the iron may be more recent and aged to give it an antique appearance.

Don't know what it is or was, other than a decorative trinket. Serves no purpose other than decoration or weight, or could be converted from its original purpose(s).

Could be missing pieces or simply a decorator item.

It represents a pineapple - a sign of welcome to your guests.

Based on the stainless and type of nut, I don't get the impression that it is antique.

Really? It used to be a lamp. You could go to the hardware store, get a lamp kit for $20, and make it a lamp once more.

That was my first thought as well, but on a piece this modern, I expect to see some accommodation for the electric cord to pass through the center of the stem.

I'm thinking this thing is 50 years or more old, and was re-purposed for some thing else, the center tube replaced by that rod, and the pieces are all mixed up. WAG. This was my knee-jerk reaction. Ask me tomorrow, I may change my mind.

It probably isn't antique at all, just curious what it may be.

The closest I have now is searching fleur-de-lis and glass globe; like a solar globe/lightning rod ball for the garden. Though, there is no steak for the ground. The claw/lamp-like base is weird. The stainless steel nut seems to be a stopper for the fleur-de-lis; to prevent recapping with the fluer-de-lis and shattering the glass by tightening too much.

Whatever purpose its a curious item and a good piece in the office right now.

Thanks for the replies so far, and no place to run a cord into the item to convert into a lamp. Would be nice if it was like an old pharmacy/antique advertisement glass/globe, but it is not alas.
