Old Class ring

This is an old class ring I found at Tenney park beach in Madison WI. It is a Madison High School ring made of sterling silver. The school opened in 1858 and was renamed in 1908, so the ring dates between those dates. Are there any older class rings out there?. I would think the ring was in the water over 40 years it was just a ball of silver sulfide when I dug it up. Took alot of cleaning to find out what I had. There was a swimming ban on Madison lakes from 1851 to 1879,. Art.
