Old Electric Clock

Feel along the entire length of the cord after it's been plugged in awhile. If it feels warm, anywhere, replace it.

If you're really nervous about it, if it's zip cord replace it. Usually just one or two screws to remove the back & just solder a new piece of cord to the transformer. If the cord is the cloth covered stuff, flex the cord to see if the rubber underneath is cracked or crunchy. If you check around you can still find the cloth covered stuff but it's getting hard. There was a place in Phoenix called French's, the only difficulty there was they only sold by the spool (100') another trick with the cloth covered stuff is to flex it till the cloth comes away from the rubber. Slide it off & slide it on a piece of the grey cord from Depot. Looks original but brand new safe. Not hard to restore, looks a lot harder than it is. Hope that gives you some ideas.

Very nice better safe than sorry
